The Music Collective Amsterdam is ontstaan uit de artistieke behoeften van enkele in Amsterdam gevestigde musici. Gevestigd in de kosmopolitische stad Amsterdam, haalt de groep ook invloeden uit de verschillende nationaliteiten van haar leden. MCA brengt de grote werken uit het orkestrale repertoire naar het publiek, aangepast naar een kleinere formatie, waarbij nieuwe klanken worden ontdekt en vanuit een dynamisch en aantrekkelijk perspectief voor het publiek worden geïnterpreteerd. Het ensemble valt ook op door zijn flexibiliteit, waarmee verschillende formaten naar het concertpodium kunnen worden gebracht: van werken met 3 | 4 musici tot meer complexe formaties van 13 | 17 spelers.
