Dmitry Bykov presenteert in Amsterdam zijn nieuwe programma Not a Word About Love, een avond vol poëzie en gesprekken over oorlog, ouder worden, rechtvaardigheid en de zoektocht naar betekenis in onze tijd.
A performance by poet, writer, and journalist Dmitry Bykov with his brand-new program.
Poet, writer, publicist, and brilliant conversationalist, Dmitry Bykov will present his new novel Black River (Chernaya Rechka) and a collection of new poems written over the past three years, reflecting the core themes of our time.
The program, titled “Not a Word About Love”, features poems from the last three years. True to the title, they lack traditional lyrical themes like romance or homesickness. The author is used to writing and speaking about what truly hurts him. As it turns out, he already has love, and he doesn’t miss his homeland at all in its current state. Therefore, the poems of the past two years focus on war, aging, a youth relived for the second time, and conversations with God, which only grow more intriguing with age. They are also about that elusive essence often called balance, justice, or the secret blueprint of the world. In his search for this blueprint, the author has made significant progress.
An evening with Dmitry Bykov is always more than just a poetry reading; it is a live, vibrant conversation about our times, human nature, and deeper meanings—the very essence that makes his performances unforgettable.
