De Klassieke Duif, de concertserie van Ella van Poucke en Stephen Waarts in De Duif, gaat haar vierde seizoen in. Opnieuw kun je genieten van een zorgvuldig samengesteld programma vol prachtige kamermuziek.

Het hoogtepunt van de serie is Het Oliebollenconcert op 1 januari, dat dit jaar voor de achttiende keer wordt samengesteld door Ella van Poucke. In de afgelopen jaren is het uitgegroeid tot een geliefde traditie, waarbij Van Poucke haar familie en beste muzikale vrienden samenbrengt om het nieuwe jaar feestelijk in te luiden met prachtige kamermuziek, oliebollen en bubbels in De Duif.
Op het programma staan dit jaar twee absolute meesterwerken uit het kamermuziekrepertoire: Mozarts Divertimento voor strijktrio, KV 563, en Tsjaikovski’s Pianotrio in a-klein, op. 50.
Hoewel de term divertimento doorgaans verwijst naar lichte amusementsmuziek, is Mozarts monumentale zesdelige werk juist een compositie van uitzonderlijke schoonheid, verfijning en emotionele diepgang. Albert Einstein schreef erover:
“Het is ware kamermuziek en heeft zulke grote proporties aangenomen alleen omdat het bedoeld was om iets bijzonders te bieden op het gebied van kunst, inventiviteit en levensvreugde… Elk instrument is primus inter pares; elke noot is betekenisvol, elke noot draagt bij aan een geestelijke én zintuiglijke vervulling in klank.”
Einstein noemde het bovendien “een van Mozarts edelste werken”.
Ook Tsjaikovski’s Pianotrio in a-klein is een monumentaal werk: een diep ontroerende compositie vol tragiek, melancholie en schoonheid. Met een bijna symfonische allure schreef hij het ter nagedachtenis aan zijn goede vriend en mentor Nikolaj Rubinstein. De ondertitel À la mémoire d’un grand artiste (“Ter nagedachtenis aan een groot kunstenaar”) onderstreept het persoonlijke karakter van deze aangrijpende compositie.

The highlight of the season is the Het Oliebollenconcert, curated by Ella van Poucke for the eighteenth time this year. Over the years, it has grown into a much-loved musical tradition, bringing together Van Poucke’s family and closest musical friends to welcome the New Year with extraordinary chamber music, traditional Dutch oliebollen, and sparkling wine in the beautiful setting of De Duif.
This year’s programme features two undisputed masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire: Mozart’s Divertimento for String Trio in E-flat major, K.563, and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50.
Although the term divertimento usually suggests light entertainment, Mozart’s monumental six-movement work is anything but. It is a composition of exceptional beauty, depth, and emotional richness. Albert Einstein wrote of the work:
“It is true chamber music, and it has assumed such grand proportions only because it was intended to offer something extraordinary in terms of art, inventiveness, and the joy of living… Each instrument is primus inter pares; every note is meaningful, every note contributes to both spiritual and sensuous fulfilment through sound.”
Einstein also described it as “one of Mozart’s noblest works.”
Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor is equally monumental: a profoundly moving work filled with tragedy, melancholy, and beauty. Written in memory of his close friend and mentor Nikolai Rubinstein, it possesses an almost symphonic scope. Its subtitle, À la mémoire d’un grand artiste (“In Memory of a Great Artist”), underscores the deeply personal nature of this powerful and emotionally charged composition.
