Elke eerste dinsdag van de maand treden studenten van het Conservatorium van Amsterdam op in Museum 't Kromhout. Ontdek nieuw talent als eerste in deze serie van Stadsherstel en het Conservatorium.
Het Watergang Kwartet, een curieus ensemble: klarinet, trompet, trombone, contrabas. Ze duiken in de rijke klanken van Oost-Europese volksmuziek en brengen deze op hun eigen manier tot leven. Hun muziek tast de grens af totdat deze onduidelijk wordt. Waar eindigt klassiek en begint folk?
Hun programma belicht de relatie tussen folk en klassieke muziek en benadrukt de invloed die deze twee werelden op elkaar hebben gehad. Naast Bartok, Schumann en Berio ontdek je een aantal onbekende traditionele melodieën uit het oosten van Europa. Omdat hun instrumentatie nogal bijzonder is, arrangeren ze hun repertoire zelf en werken ze samen met verschillende arrangeurs.
Gerardo Gianolio – Trumpet
Gerardo Gianolio is an Italian trumpet player. He holds a Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from the Conservatory of Bozen (110/110), where he studied under Marco Pierobon and Giancarlo Parodi. He is currently pursuing another Master’s Degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Omar Tomasoni and Miro Petkov, specializing in baroque trumpet under Nicolas Isabelle. Gerardo has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as Concerto Köln, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Haydn Orchestra, Orchestra Luigi Cherubini, Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble, and Mahler Academy. He has performed under distinguished conductors, including Thomas Hengelbrock, Kent Nagano, Pablo Heras-Casado, and Wayne Marshall.
Salome Etter – Clarinet
Salome Etter is a Swiss clarinetist and bass clarinetist. She accomplished her Master of Music degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the guidance
of Bart de Kater. Previously, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB), studying with Ernesto Molinari. Salome is a member of the Ut Kwintet, a woodwind quintet based in Amsterdam that won 1st Prize at the Sonus – International Music Competition in 2024. She has performed with leading ensembles, including Asko|Schönberg, the Atlas Ensemble during their residency at the Oranjewoud Festival (2024) and Trapeze Ensemble, with whom she played at the Transparent Sound New Music Festival in Budapest. From 2023- 2025, she is part of the JongNBE academy of the Netherlands Blazers Ensemble.
Juan Cancer Navarro – Trombone
The Spanish trombone player Juan Cancer Navarro completed his Master in Classical Trombone at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag, where he studied with prof. Sebastiaan Kemner, Daniel Quiles Cascant, Ben van Dijk, and specialised in baroque trombone with prof. Wim Becu. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Musikene – Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco (2017–2021), where he studied with prof. Juan M. Real, Vicent Boix and Stephan Schulz. He has collaborated with renowned orchestras and ensembles such as Residentie Orkest, Ludwig Ensemble, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra or Philarmonie Zuidnederland, jumping in both as principal and second trombone. He also collaborated with Rotterdam Sinfonia after being academist in 2024, joining their tour to Mexico in November 2024 as second trombone. In 2024 he joins the academy of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE).
Roberto Sanhermelando – Double Bass
Roberto Sanhermelando Blanes is a double bassist currently completing his Master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studies under Olivier Thiery, Naomi Shaham, and Ying Lai Green. As part of a student exchange program, he spent three months at the Royal College of Music in London, learning from Rodrigo Moro, Principal
Bassist of the London Symphony Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Roberto completed his Bachelor’s studies in Valencia, his hometown, where he was awarded
the Extraordinary Prize. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Madrid with Julio Pastor. Roberto worked with several Spanish orchestras, including the Orquesta de la Región de
Murcia, Orquesta del Reino de Navarra, and Orquestra de les Illes Balears.
