“The Orchestra was founded in 1973 by Hajo Jobs, who still conducts the orchestra along with Steffen Raab-Brust.
The HKO is a symphonic orchestra, whose members, aged from 14 to 24, come together from all of northern Germany about ten times per year for one weekend, to rehearse.
Every year the orchestra goes on a concert tour.
In the past, they toured among others in Italy, Greece, Sweden, France, Spain, and Canada! This year the orchestra explores the Netherlands, giving concerts in the cities of Groningen, Amsterdam, Leiden and Utrecht.
For this tour, we collaborate with the student orchestra Bragi from Groningen, who are on tour during the same period and will join us for a shared concert on the 26.07. in Utrecht.
We perform our repertoire, consisting of classical, baroque, and romantic compositions as well as contemporary pieces, which are sometimes composed specifically for the orchestra.
This year, we are celebrating our 50th anniversary in cooperation with the German radio station NDR.”
