In 1956, our founders saw that their beloved city was wasting away, and they decided to do something about it: they founded a heritage conservation organisation, Stadsherstel. We still take the same energetic and enterprising approach. We see ourselves as ardent heritage saviours who dare to take on challenges. We’ve already saved more than 750 monuments, both in Amsterdam and in the surrounding 45 kilometres, and we maintain our heritage buildings with knowledge and expertise. Our passion is to restore, open to the public, and enjoy heritage buildings, together with you and future generations.
